If you’re looking to cruise the California coast with the top down, you may want to consider this beauty — the Grand Convertible presented by Bentley. Just in time for the LA Auto Show, Bentley revealed a “sneak peek” at its newest design in hopes of generating feedback on the concept. If the result is thumbs up, production will commence in 2015.
Collector-worthy features of the Grand Convertible include “liquid metallic” paint to the hood and windscreen frame, along with diamond-studded leather interior. The retractable soft top disappears beneath a polished wood tonneau, while the 6.75 twin turbo V8 drives 530 horsepower with 811 pound-feet of torque. Clearly not your average “cruiser,” this statement of elegance is sure to turn heads.
The early reveal of this luxury concept car indicates Bentley’s high anticipation for response. Part of the desire for immediate feedback is due to a simultaneous release of rival Rolls Royce’s Phantom Drophead Coupe, already on the market. With a $500,000 price tag, Rolls Royce leads the market in luxury convertibles. Clearly Bentley hopes to put a dent in that arena. The Grand Convertible, with its sleek line and sophistication, surely stands to make an elegant entrance into the luxury automobile world.
